How to decorate a dining room
Our dining room is my most favorite room to decorate! Though, I’ll be honest, I am not a cook by any means, I do want my dining room to at least look inviting enough that my husband feels comfortable eating fast food there (hahaha!- I’ve tried cooking; I’ve failed).
If you don’t have any fine china, that’s fine! You don’t have to have expensive pieces to make your table pretty. You can find reallllly pretty pieces on the Target dollar isle from time to time! And, don’t forget thrift stores, folks…people purge beautiful dishes all the time- go get em’!
When setting your table or buffet decor, keep it proportionate. Start with the tallest item in the middle and then, on either side of that, set items that are equal to each other in height but shorter than the middle piece…and do that a time or two again, depending on how much you want on your table. Or, you can reverse that and put the shortest in the middle with the tallest on the ends (a little unconventional this way, but hey, its YOUR table!)
It should look like this:
Once you have your main pieces set on your table, then fill in the space around it with little tea light candles or maybe some foliage- this option with look beautiful and, its often FREE, unless you purchase artificial foliage from Michael’s Arts and Crafts or Hobby Lobby.
Here’s a pic of our dining room table and buffet for reference: notice that I just used one large piece on my table but the taller objects (bottles) are on the ends and the shortest in the middle- same for the buffet.
